Question

Create a simple OscillatorBot in Nim that reverses direction periodically — the minimum viable sparring partner to test whether the GA gun can learn rhythmic movement patterns. ~30 lines. Also identify whether any capable community bots exist for Tank Royale that could be downloaded as additional sparring partners.

Resolution

Created OscillatorBot/ on branch research/goto-controller (commit b7b10af).

What it does: Reverses move direction and turn direction every 25 ticks at speed 7, creating a predictable zigzag pattern. Head-on targeting fires power 2.0 when gun is roughly aligned. ~45 lines total, compiles clean.

Files:

  • OscillatorBot/OscillatorBot.nim — bot logic
  • OscillatorBot/OscillatorBot.json — bot config
  • OscillatorBot/OscillatorBot.sh — launch script
  • OscillatorBot/config.nims — libs path

Community bots search: Tank Royale ships official sample bots (Java/C#/Python only) including Crazy, SpinBot, Walls, Tracker, RamFire, Corners, Fire, SittingDuck. These are available in the sample-bots-java-*.zip from GitHub releases. No Nim community bots exist. The Java sample bots could be used as additional sparring partners if the Java runtime is configured alongside the Nim bots — Crazy and SpinBot would be the most useful for testing gun prediction against non-trivial movement.
